Fourth of July Agate Gallery

The Fourth of July Agate area is the first spot I visited when I moved to Arizona from Minnesota.

My wife Michele and I actually took that first trip out to this area after reading in an old book about the mysterious old chimney ruins that have stood in the Arizona desert for nearly a Century.

Rockhounds have known about this area for decades.  The best information about the history of this area has come from the older generation rockhounds. The consistent story is that this area at one time was so abundant with agate generations of rockhounds were scooping agate nodules with snow shovels from the nearby buttes off the twisting roads leading from Arlington to Agua Caliente.

The area is secluded and enjoyable so I collect there often -at least 3 times a year.
